AI-powered Data Fabric
Scope Overview
In 2021, the Air Force Sustainment Center (AFSC) identified issues with maintenance operations data from Lean Depot Management System (LDMS), Logistics,Installations, and Mission Support – Enterprise View (LIMS-EV), job tracking systems, and backorder databases. Many data sets were not in digital form, were rarely interconnected, and required extensive human manipulation. Manual data preparation through connected spreadsheets diminished leadership’s ability to understand performance drivers and intervene at a granular level. Other issues included lack of veracity, incomplete data, questionable data pedigree and debatable quality. Shipcom’s AI/ML-enabled Data Fabric solution provided the Air Force with advanced technology to align these disparate data systems and deliver a distributed, user-centric common operating picture with proactive issue identification in parts, manpower and engineering from command to CNC shop floor. The semantic data fabric architecture deployed in Shipcom’s Catamaran platform automated data preparation and eliminated manual spreadsheet workflows.
Based on the success of the initial prototype, Shipcom received a follow-on award to integrate Shipcom AI with CNC Manufacturing Machine Monitoring Data to produce an enhanced Daily Maintenance Output Report (DMOR). The system delivers interactive visualizations giving decision-makers deep insight into maintenance operation performance drivers.
- Usage-based maintenance intervals, enhanced diagnostics, advanced troubleshooting.
- Production process health, predictive scheduling.
- Open Data Interfaces for machine health decisions.
- Central collection point of all CBM+ decision support information.
Shipcom’s AI-enabled DMOR provides real-time awareness into CNC Machine operational functionalities and maintenance activities.
